ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in January-October 2017 increased by 37.8% to 22 440.7 thousand tons by the same period of 2016. Of these, 18,925.1 thousand tons (84.3% of the total) accounted for road transport, which increased by 46.3% year-on- year. This is evidenced by the data of the National Statistical Service of Armenia. According to statistical data, rail freight traffic for the reporting period decreased by 1.6% to 2,126.2 thousand tons. At the same time, air transportation increased by 41.4% to 18.8 thousand tons. The main pipeline delivered 1,370.6 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 16% more than the same period last year. Freight turnover increased by 12.3% - up to 3 334.5 million ton-km.
Passenger transportation for the reporting period decreased by 3.2% - to 165 789 thousand people, which, by and large, was due to a 4.1% decrease in road transport - to 145,497.7 thousand people. At the same time, the transportation of passengers by electric transport increased by 1.9% to 17,824.1 thousand people, railroads - by 3.5% to 313.2 thousand people, air transportation - by 22.7% to 2,154 thousand people. Passenger traffic increased by 2.1% to 2,206.2 million passengers-km.
