ArmInfo. 2020 turned out to be difficult for the alcoholic industry in Armenia: the production volumes of almost all alcoholic beverages produced in Armenia, with the exception of champagne, sagged.
Thus, according to the data of the Statistical Committee, 39 191 thousand liters were produced in Armenia during the reporting period. brandy, which is 9.9% less than a year ago (against an increase of 41.5% in 2019), 5 105.5 thousand liters of vodka, with an annual decline of 14.6% (instead of an increase of 18.6% in 2019 year), 23 483.3 thousand liters of beer - with a decline over the year by 10.6% (against growth by 11.4% a year earlier).
At the same time, whiskey production accelerated the rate of annual decline from 11.6% in 2019 to 51.1% by the end of 2020, providing a volume of 348.6 thousand liters.
Wine also turned out to be in a negative trend, production volumes of which over the previous year sank by 13.1% (instead of growth by 31.1% in 2019), amounting to 11,013.8 thousand liters.
At the same time, in 2020, it was possible to increase the production of champagne, which increased by 11% on an annualized basis (against growth by 34.2% in 2019), with a volume of 1,222.2 thousand liters. This trend was due to a significant decrease in consumption due to the pandemic lockdown and the tourist collapse, which affected not only the expected volumes of domestic consumption, but also export supplies.
