ArmInfo. The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in H1 2021 compared to the same period last year increased by 18.4% - up to 7491.1 thousand tons, against an increase of 3.4% a year earlier.
According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, out of the total volume, 67.3% or 5,039 thousand tons falls on road transport, which is 32.4% more than a year ago. According to statistics, rail freight traffic, on the contrary, during the reporting period decreased by 8.5% - to 1,477.8 thousand tons. Air transportation increased by 13.4% to 7.6 thousand tons. The main pipeline supplied 966.7 thousand tons of natural gas, which is 7.2% more than a year ago. Freight turnover increased by 8% to 2398.9 million tonne-km.
Passenger traffic for the reporting period increased by 17.7% - up to 50 581.6 thousand people, against a decline of 54.7% a year earlier. In particular, road transportation increased by 8.9% - up to 39 123.8 thousand people, rail transportation - by 28.5% - up to 180.3 thousand people, air - by 22.9% to 772 thousand people. The carriage of passengers by electric transport increased by 67.8% to 10,505.5 thousand people. Passenger traffic increased by 26.8% to 699.7-million passenger-km.
