ArmInfo. Metallurgical industry of Armenia in January-July 2021 increased production volumes by 22.9% (against growth by 13.2% a year earlier). This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
In particular, the production of copper concentrate increased in January-July by 8.5% per annum (against growth by 9.1% a year earlier), amounting to 232.2 thousand tons. On a monthly basis (in July), copper concentrate production decreased by 21.5% to 29.7 thousand tons.
Production of steel pipes in the reporting period increased by 11.7% per annum - to 8.684 thousand tons (against 36.1% growth a year earlier), while in July production increased by 9.6% - to 1.259 thousand tons. Unalloyed (carbon) steel castings were produced in January-July in the amount of 57.137 thousand tons, with an annual growth of 6.7-fold (against an increase of 18.7% a year earlier). At the same time, in July, production volumes increased by 10.9%, amounting to 12.265 thousand tons.
A decrease was recorded in the production of ferromolybdenum - in January-July by 8.6% per annum (against growth by 7.9% a year earlier), with a volume of 4.4 thousand tons provided. In July alone, 664 tonnes of ferromolybdenum were produced, with a monthly volume decline of 10.3%.
The production of molybdenum concentrate also decreased - in January-July of this year compared to the same period last year by 5.7% (against growth by 1.8-fold a year earlier), amounting to 13.858 thousand tons. At the same time, in July the production of molybdenum concentrate decreased by 13.4% - to 1,924 thousand tons. The production of zinc concentrate also decreased - over 7 months by 21.8% per annum (against 31.3% growth a year earlier), with a volume of 6,506 thousand tons provided. In July, production of zinc concentrate decreased by 35.6% - to 699 tons. Production of aluminum foil in the reporting period also decreased in volume by 4% (against growth by 13.1% a year earlier), amounting to 19.688 thousand tons. At the same time, in July, the production of aluminum foil decreased by 3.5%, amounting to 2.751 thousand tons. To note, all metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the United States.
