In the first half of 2023, 303,225 citizens of the Republic of Armenia (27% of the total number of migrants) returned to Armenia from abroad, and their number has been significantly increasing for the second year in a row: in 2022 by 56% and now by 42%. At the same time, during the reporting period, 319,442 citizens of the Republic of Armenia (29.1% of the total number of migrants) left the country, with an annual increase of 25% (against an increase of 19.1% in the same period in 2022).
As a result, the negative balance of migration in the first half of 2023 amounted to 16,217 people, decreasing by 61.2% year-on-year, which was observed in the same period of 2022, when this figure decreased by 46%.
In general, during the reporting period, 1,126,518 people arrived in Armenia from abroad, and 1,096,354 people left, and the annual growth in both cases turned out to be almost the same - 72.5% and 72.1%, respectively, while in the same period In 2022, the growth in the number of arrivals was much higher than the growth in the number those who left - 93.3% against 68%. As a result, the balance of migration consolidated in the first half of 2023 at a positive level of 30,164 people, having jumped by 87.6% year-on- year, after reaching a positive level in 2022 (16,079 people) from a negative level in 2021. According to the data of the Passport and Visa Center of the RA Police, a total of 17,504 people were registered during the reporting period, which is 2 times higher than last year (against an annual decline of 3% a year earlier). These were mainly citizens from the Russian Federation, Georgia, Artsakh, Syria, Iran, Lebanon, the USA and Ukraine. Deregistered 20 186 people. (with an annual growth of 1.8 times, against a meager 0.3% growth a year earlier), of which the overwhelming majority are citizens of Russia, Artsakh, Georgia, France, the USA, and Germany. And despite the fact that in both cases the majority are citizens of the Russian Federation, nevertheless, there are 3.4 times more registered among them than those deregistered. The number of registered citizens of Georgia, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and Artsakh also significantly prevails, and among the citizens of the United States, France and Germany, there are more of those who are deregistered.
In addition, according to statistical data, in the first half of the year, 11,092 foreign citizens received residence permits in Armenia, of which 5,507 had a temporary status, and accordingly 5,585 had a permanent status. The total number of foreign citizens who received a residence permit in Armenia increased by 3 times in annual terms, and more significantly - 4 times - the number of those who received a permanent status increased, and slightly less significantly - by 2.4 times - the number of those who received a temporary status increased. Among those who received a residence permit in Armenia, the vast majority are citizens of the Russian Federation - 8,476 people. (4,308 - temporary status, 4,168 - permanent status), followed by citizens of India - 715 people. (382 - temporary), Iran - 677 people. (334 - temporary), Belarus - 169 people.
