ArmInfo. Over the past 3 years, Ameriabank has been intensively pursuing the path of digital transformation, which is already reflected in the form of concrete results. Arman Barseghyan, Retail Banking Director at Ameriabank, told reporters on the sidelines of the Doing Digital forum on April 3, noting that digital transformation has been on their agenda for about 8 years. "According to our understanding, Ameriabank is already a Fintech company," he emphasized.
In particular, Barseghyan said that as of today 98% of bank transactions are made outside branches. In addition, more than half of various products and services are sold through digital channels. Given that these rates are fleeting, Ameriabank expects this figure to reach 60% by the end of the year. Touching upon traditional banking services, namely loans, he noted that 95% of retail loans and loans for SMEs are carried out remotely. "That is, we can already say that, technically, Ameriabank is a digital bank," Arman Barseghyan emphasized.
The Retail Banking Director also drew attention to the fact that the digital agenda today is not just desirable, but already mandatory. Without this component, he says, it will be very difficult for a business sector to record significant results. "Without using the capabilities of digital technologies, it is impossible to achieve success in a rapidly changing, multifactorial world," he stated. Referring to the public's readiness for digital transformation, Barseghyan noted that the adaptation is progressing faster than expected. In this regard, he recalled the events related to this topic, where, speaking, the Retail Banking Director announced that certain services, such as mortgages, will continue to be provided in the branches, but as of today, 51% of Ameriabank's mortgage loans are provided digitally. "And this process tends to accelerate," he said.
Speaking about the risks of digital transformation, Barseghyan noted that any technology contains risks, and, therefore, the task of every company is to learn to manage them. In this vein, he stated that digital technologies create better opportunities for risk management. SPRING PR is the organizer of the Doing Digital Forum, Ameriabank is the fintech partner.
