Armenian service sector generated revenue of $1.2 billion in first  two months

ArmInfo.Service sector of Armenia provided revenue in the amount of 473.1 billion drams in Jan-Feb 2024 ($1.2 billion), slowing down in y-o-y growth from 23.5% to 5.2%. This is evidenced by data from the RA Statistical Committee, according to which in February alone, the service sector showed a decline of 0.3% - to 236.2 billion drams ($584.2 million).

ArmInfo.The Central Bank further worsened the forecast for the decline in Armenia's GDP in 2020 - to 7.2% from the previous 6.2%. This is set out in the Central  Bank's Monetary Policy Program for the Q4 of 2020, published on  December 29.  According to the Central Bank's forecast, in these  conditions, the decline in private demand will amount to 10.1%,  including private consumption will decrease by 9.3% (against the  previously expected decline by 9.4%), and the gross accumulation of  private fixed assets will decrease by 15.3%.

A significant slowdown in the growth of industrial  production is due to the continuing decline in the manufacturing  industry. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of  Armenia, only in October 2020, industrial production increased its  volumes by 3.2%, ensuring the volume of 194.7 billion drams ($ 396.1  million).

ArmInfo. In the consumer market  of Armenia in January- November 2020, inflation was recorded at 0.3%,  against deflationary 0.5% in the same period of 2019. This was  provoked by an increase in tariffs for services by 1.4%, a rise in  prices for non-food products by 1%, while prices for food products  (including alcohol and cigarettes) fell by 0.9%. According to the  Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in y-o-y terms  (compared to January-November 2019), the consumer market recorded  inflation of 1% (against inflationary 1.5% a year ago), which was  facilitated by the same rise in prices of food and non-food products  by 0.8% and an increase in tariffs for services by 1.3%. The average  monthly rise in prices on the consumer market amounted to 0.03% in  January- November 2020, against a 0.05% decline a year earlier.
