Food products, services cause of 0.8% inflation in Jan-Apr 2024 

ArmInfo.In Armenia, four-month inflation of 0.8% was triggered by food and services, which rose in  price by 1.8% and 0.9%, respectively, while non-food products fell in price by 1.6%. This is not much different from last year's picture, when in January-April 2023 inflation of 0.9% came from an increase in  food prices by 1.6% and an increase in the price of services by 1.1%, with a decrease in the price of non-food goods by 1%. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

ArmInfo. The budget deficit of Armenia in January-December 2019 amounted to 63.9 billion drams ($ 133.1 million), decreasing by 39.3% year on year, against the 60.5%  decline in 2018. According to the RA Statistical Committee, the  budget revenues of Armenia accelerated the y-o-y growth rate from  8.4% to 16.3%, while expenditures unfolded from a 3.8% decline to a  12.2% increase, amounting to 1,559.1 billion and 1,623.1, billion  drams respectively.

ArmInfo.The annual growth in foreign trade between Armenia and Russia in 2019 accelerated to 14.9% from 11.2% in 2018, exceeding $ 2.2 billion. This was triggered by an acceleration in the growth of imports - from 7.2% to 17.4%, with a  slowdown in growth exports from 19.6% to 10.3%, the volumes of which  amounted to $ 1.5 billion and $ 734.5 million, respectively.   According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia,  Russia holds the lead by a large margin.

ArmInfo.The volume of cargo transportation in Armenia in 2019 decreased by 49.6% (against an increase of 3.7% in 2018), amounting to 14 722.2 thousand tons. Of  these, 9 651.6 thousand tons (65.6% of the total) accounted for road  transport, which decreased by 60.6% year on year (against an increase  of 3.5% in 2018). This is evidenced by the data of the Statistical  Committee of RA.

ArmInfo.Revenues of the communications sector of Armenia for 2019 amounted to 147.2 billion drams, slowing y-o-y growth to stagnant 0.5% from 1% in 2018.  According to the RA Statistical Committee, the telecommunications  field, which dominates the communications sector (90%), provided  revenues of 132.5 billion drams, having reduced it by 2.9% per annum,  against the growth of 0.8% a year earlier.  According to statistics,  in December 2019 alone the total revenue of the communications sector  increased by 5.1% to 13 billion drams.

The volume of industrial production in Armenia in 2019 compared to 2018 accelerated growth to 9% (against a slowdown in 2018 from 12.6% to 4.3%),  amounting to 2.104 trillion. drams ($ 4.4 billion). The acceleration  of the upward dynamics was provoked by the trend of the mining sector  from recession to growth with continued growth in the manufacturing  industry. In December 2019 alone, industrial production increased by  14.7% (against an increase of 12.5% in December 2018) with a volume  of 247.8 billion drams ($ 518.2 million).

In December alone, nominal wages increased by 26.4%, against a  23.4% increase in December 2018.  In December 2019, as compared to  December 2018, the nominal wage increased by 5.4%, against a growth  of 2% in December 2018 compared to December 2017.

The small prevalence of import growth rates (10.8%) over export (9.4%) sharply has  slowed down the growth of the foreign trade deficit of Armenia in January-  December 2019 compared to January-December 2018 to 12.6%. A year  earlier, in January-December 2018, the foreign trade deficit jumped  by 31.7% per annum against the backdrop of a sharp slowdown in export  growth from 25.2% to 7.8% with a slight slowdown in import growth  from 27.8% to 21.1%.

ArmInfo.The y-o-y growth in foreign trade between Armenia and Russia in January-November 2019 slowed to 12.6% from last year's 13.5%, amounting to $ 1.98 billion.   This was triggered by a slowdown in export growth from 19.3% to  10.8%, with accelerating growth of imports - from 10.6% to 13.6%, the  volumes of which amounted to $ 671.5 million and $ 1.3 billion,  respectively. According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic  of Armenia, Russia holds the lead with a large margin.

According to the RA Statitical Committee,  the budget revenues of Armenia accelerated the y-o-y growth from 6.2%  to 18.7%, while expenditures turned from the 1.7% decline to 10.5%  growth, amounting to 1.398 trillion and 1.358 trillion drams  respectively.
